The NFL and the Coronavirus

This year has been a different year for the NFL with no fans or very little fans and dealing with the biggest problem in the world right now COVID-19.  The coronavirus has affected everyone and everything in this world, but as far as the world of sports goes it has probably hit the NFL the hardest. With most major sports here in North America having returned, many of them have had low to no cases of COVID-19, but this has not been the case for the NFL. While the whole world is struggling to deal with this virus, I have decided to dive in and see how the NFL is handling this new challenge which is what 2020 has been one challenge after another.

“We have said all along that we expect positive cases,” said NFL chief medical officer Allen Sills.  Well, at least they were honest about it and did not expect from the start to have no cases but how have they handled it when there are cases? The NFL have been investigating all COVID-19 cases and they have been rescheduling games due to the virus. The NFL has allowed players to opt out of this year and not force them to play so they can keep themselves and their families safe.

While everyday life for everyone has changed and made us all struggle and fight through this pandemic, the NFL is hoping to bring a bright spot back to all football fans in the world. As the article says, the return of NFL football hopefully can be a kind of medicine by inspiring a sense hope to raise one’s mental state. The NFL looks to keep going with the support from everyone to help make the difficult season work and be a complete success.
