On October 12, 2020 the LA Lakers defeated the Miami heat 106-93 to win the NBA finals series 4-2. Their leader Lebron James captured his 4th NBA title and 4th finals MVP award. He finally has earned and cemented himself as a member of the Lakers family and one of the best players in NBA history.
It’s winning and maintaining excellence in the purple in gold that make you earn the right to be a laker. Two years ago, when Lebron signed he had his work cut out for him to earn that right because he was joining a young lakers team, but the king brought hope to many fans and it was his competitive attituded and drive that eventually rubbed off to make everyone around him better. Eventually in the end brought a title back to LA.
But this was bigger than just a title for his team, this win was about more than sports. James was playing with a heavy heart and wanted to go out and win for his close friend and former Laker Kobe Bryant. Emotions were raw and very real as there was never a point during this playoff run where LeBron wasn’t thinking about number 24 Kobe Bryant.
All these accomplishments add to his resume of being one of the greatest to ever play the game, also one of biggest influences on the black community. He is able to position himself to use his big platform to speak out on social injustice issues and bring light to the conflicts with racism in the States.
