Robert “Bob” Kraft the owner of the New England Patriots is one of the most popular and well respected owners in the NFL. He has been the owner of one of the best franchises the sport of football has ever seen. He has backed up his athletes time and time again in the “Deflategate” controversy as well as in murder trials. He has always been a man of loyalty to his players and seemed to be a portrait of honesty. That was up until news broke that his name was on a list of people charged with soliciting prostitution.
Robert Kraft was one of 25 names on a list put out by the Florida Police department who had visited this day spa which is allegedly involved in a human trafficking scheme. So far, he has not been arrested however others have been, but the question continues to be asked, how will Kraft be able to weasel his way out of this?
The idea that a man of such power and influence would submit himself to such a low and dirty deed is making people second guess the pedestals that we as a society put many influential figures on without knowing much about who they actually are. It also is yet another example of celebrities who act as if they are above the law. In a study done by Nicole Laurie Robinson, many cases athletes (or people in the sports world) were found to have gotten away with ” using their notoriety and fame to receive preferential treatment from the police”. Kraft, although not an athlete himself, is above the athletes on the pedestal of professional sports. As a result, it will be interesting to see how this situation goes down and what, if anything, will be his punishment from both the police and the NFL.
